August 2026 sees the six-part remake of “My Brilliant Career” on Netflix – and it clearly deviates from Miles Franklin’s 1901 novel.

The 1979 film adaptation with Judy Davis and Sam Neill (†78) had told Sybylla's way more than a love story because of the limited duration. The soundtrack combines music by Wet Leg and Ecca Vandal, cover versions by Thelma Plum and Isabella Manfredi as well as specially composed songs by Kate Miller-Heidke (44) and Beckah Amani.
